OK, so I only get tiny windows of time when I can talk to people on the other side of the world. I wake up my boyfriend (who is usually half-asleep and grunts at me) at about 8:30pm (8am San Francisco). Then I get on IM on gmail and talk to anyone who wants to procrastinate at work. sometimes there is noone there because everyone is sick of me.
Then I get up and call Mack at about 7:15/30am (6:45/7pm San Francisco) and I am half asleep and annoyed that we can't really talk because i am on my way to work.
For the past 2 days I haven't had internet and so there has been no communication to home.
I found a butcher and got mutton mince, sauteed it in shallots, added garlic and eggplant, 6 tomatoes, simmered with cumin and chilli powder. The chilli powder is the hottest I have every used. I then added tomato sauce and simmered for another 20 minutes. Added to pasta. It was awesome.
I am glad that I can go anywhere in my neighborhood and get fresh ingredients. There are tons of fruit and vegetable stands down the street from our apartment building.
I hope that I can get bacon for Mack's bday breakfast. They have beef at the butcher!!

I guess I need a gmail account, because you aren't really helping me procrastinate at work right now, Priya! Except I am looking at your blog and getting hungry. I think you should make mutton-burgers and mutton-loaf with your minced mutton. Mary was eating buffalo jerky for breakfast this morning. See if you can pick up some mutton jerky for her as a souvenir.
Mutton burgers would be awesome! I want that my first night there. Reminds me of when I visited friends in Maui last year my friend made me a Spicy Spam burger my first night there.
